Mark Scanlon - CEO and Product Architect
As founder, CEO and product architect of Sedona Energy Labs, Mark is the driving force behind the company’s solar energy developments. A self-described “tinkerer,” Mark has worked with many alternative technologies over the years including hydrogen, micro-hydro power, efficient combustion, Stirling engines and solar energy in many forms.
Committed to helping people become 100% energy independent, Mark has devoted the majority of his career to inventing ways to harness the sun’s energy. A serial entrepreneur, he founded Solar System Enterprises to sell and install solar hot water systems. He later founded Designworks, a company that designed and built passive solar homes and greenhouses. Mark designed and built the first passive solar home in Arizona, the first active solar home in Northern Arizona, an off-grid, net-zero home in Colorado as well as solar greenhouses that function year-round in harsh climates.
Mark earned a B.S. in biology from Northern Arizona University, focusing on passive solar greenhouse development. He won a full scholarship for graduate study in solar and sustainable design at Wright-Ingraham Institute and taught the first solar studies courses at Yavapai College. Sedona Energy Labs is the third company he has founded.
